Glaucoma Treatments in Vineland

Glaucoma is a chronic condition that has no medical cure. Careful intraocular pressure (IOP) monitoring and/or treatment every 3-6 months for those at risk or diagnosed with glaucoma can slow down or halt the progression of this disease.

The doctors of the Eye Institute of South Jersey, PC, David R. Pernelli, MD and Terrance K. Heacox, Jr., OD use a variety of methods to lower intraocular pressure and treat glaucoma.

  • Eye drops: taken daily, medicated eye drops can help control eye pressure by reducing the amount of fluid produced by the eyes or by allowing drops to help fluid escape
  • Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT): Pernelli performs laser surgery to provide an outlet for trapped fluid to escape the eyes

There is no singular glaucoma treatment; the right one for you will depend on your unique pressure level, eye anatomy and severity of the problem.
